HAPPY BIRTHDAY FR. PAUL!!!!

Support for St. Francis Hospital. Since Father Paul’s mother fell ill last year, he has been more focused on the lack of quality healthcare in Uganda. St Francis Hospital is a charity that is very closed to his heart. The hospital is located in Buikwe District – Lugazi Diocese along the shores of Lake Victoria. The hospital was founded by Mother Kevin, a nurse, who was also a nun of the Franciscan Missionary Sisters for Africa (FMSA), in 1932, as a leprosy hospital until 1990 when it was gazetted as a general Hospital. Since its opening as a General hospital It has been offering general medicine and surgical services, speciallizing in HIV/AIDS services.

The St. Francis Hospital in Nyenga, Uganda requires support for much needed supplies and equipment. The hospital, one of the few with modern capabilities in the area, struggles to treat patients with COVID along with long-standing medical conditions such as sickle cell anemia and many other illnesses. Its pediatric wing is especially in need.

Fr. Paul’s birthday is January 28th and he asks that in lieu of any intended gift for him that parishioners instead consider making a gift to the hospital. Checks can be made payable to Sacred Heart Church with a notation of St. Francis Hospital, or by using the Sacred Heart website payment portal with the same notation. For further questions, please see Father Paul or contact the parish office at 757-625-6763. Thank you for your generosity.
